Guidelines for use

Browse

You can browse by vocabulary names sorted alphabetically or by the authority that owns them.

You can navigate with simple clicks to select a vocabulary and open up parts of the tree that are of interest using the expand (+) and contract (-) icons. Just click again to close the tree. Each name has information about it that appears in the window on the right when you click to find out more. Each item or relationship will be of one of various types, these are indicated by icons.

Terms can be of various types:

Non-preferred terms are synonyms that are not to be used but may be helpful for understanding or searching.

Usually only preferred terms will be used for tagging. Node labels are only used for navigation and for grouping sets of terms.

Search

You can search for words that appear in the names of terms or search for their identifier.

Simply type in your word, phrase or code into the appropriate box and click the search button. If you want to search just one type of term (preferred, node label or non preferred term) then select the appropriate type. If you just want top level terms then check the box.

The name text can appear anywhere in the term name. For IDs the exact ID is required, though % can be used as a wild card.

Your results will appear and you can then select terms of interest and find out more about them and the vocabularies they come from. If a term appears several times this is because it appears in many places in one or more vocabularies.
